Importance of a good CoA

A “fund” in church fund accounting is a unique designation of money that is tracked separately than everything else, but is still a part of your larger total. For a Church to grow organically, it needs a software that does true fund accounting, the regular commercial accounting softwares won't support your chart of accounts.

The general fund, mission, building fund etc are some of the major funds in church accounting. Your chart of accounts should include these and should be flexible to add more if needed.

ArkFishers offers you a detailed and versatile chart of accounts to start with, which covers most of the scenarios in a church.

In the ArkFishers Chart of Accounts, assets, liabilities , net assets, income, expense constitute the top level accounts in the chart. Under each of that you will find relevent hierarchies that will address every scenario in your church

Your savings and checking account details are tucked under current assets. Tithe and offerings, donations and other income are under the income section. Restricted accounts like missions, building fund etc are under restricted funds section.

You can create as many hierarchy levels as you want for each account, accurately representing your organization's needs.
